Light Up the Room

In spite of lockdown my house has been progressing nicely (albeit a little more slowly), so much so that it's pretty much ready to move in to! The only job left on the list is to get the electrician back in to replace my fuse board, and since he can't get the parts he needs, I thought I'd get my arse into gear and (finally) choose the lighting I want in my key rooms - might as well put him to work and have them installed properly!

So I thought I'd share the lights I've been looking at - let me know what you think in the comments, or send me a message on Instagram (@myold.newhome).

Let's start with the most dramatic light - the Starkey Chandelier, Brass - £149 from Made.com (heads up, all of the lights are from Made.com)

I initially wanted to get this statement light for the dining end of my living room, but decided I'll keep it front and center in the living room itself.

Instead, the matching but less dramatic beaut (the Starkey Cluster Pendant Light, Brass - £79) will be gracing the back end of the room.

To keep the continuity running up the stairs (especially because I'm loving how open they are without a banister and the way that they've almost become part of the room), I'm going for the Starkey Single Pendant, Brass - £29.

Moving into the main bedroom, I've opted to match my ceiling light to my lamps, keeping them quite simple with a slightly retro vibe. Starting with the Boll Flush Ceiling Light - £59, which is a complete 360 from the dreamy white feather lampshade I was originally going to buy!

I initially fell in love with the Boll Table Lamp Tall, Brass & Frosted Glass - £45 for my bedside lamps, which helped me to decide on the main light above.

But I also love the simplicity of the Boll Standard Table Lamp - £35 too.

The only thing I struggled with deciding on was which of the lamps to choose!

After wading through A LOT of lighting options and choosing the above, I started drawing a blank for the spare bedrooms, so decided to quit while I'm ahead and leave those for another day. Chances are I'll wait until Ikea or Wilko are open and safe to visit and just pick up a couple of light simple shades.

Thankfully I bought the lights for the kitchen and dining room months ago (you can see them in this post), so they're sitting patiently waiting to be installed along with these beauties!
