The Best Views Come After the Hardest Climb

After my first breakup, my mum sent me a card emblazoned with the phrase “sometimes the best views come after the hardest climb”. It’s a phrase that’s stuck with me ever since, so when I found this gorgeous print from @omgkittyclub on Instagram I had to buy it.

The meaning of that phrase has changed somewhat for me since that card landed on my doormat, and no doubt it will again before my time is through.

I thought I had found my ‘best view’ until I realised (a little later than I’d like to admit) that that view was bat shit, with anger management issues and stalker-like tendencies.

It’s only now that the harassment has subsided and I’ve enjoyed over a year of being happily single, that I’ve realised that the view isn’t a new person, opportunity, or thing (grab a bucket), it’s you (or rather in this scenario, me).

It’s learning who you are as an individual, and not as part of something, or someone, else. Getting to know yourself without compromising or making do.

It’s being comfortable being on your own and being yourself.

Or at least that’s what it means to me right now, and it’s comforting in some ways to think that she knew that. Everything happens for a reason and all that.

So here’s to better views (and steadier inclines) in what ever chapter comes next.

Peace & Love, Amy
